Paving the approaches to the newly reconstructed Agua Fria River Bridge has been rescheduled for 2010, when area temperatures are high enough for crews to install rubberized asphalt. Crews will move out of the area and return in the spring. When construction activity to pave the bridge approaches resumes, this web page will be updated. The patience of the community is appreciated as ADOT works to finish the SR 169, Agua Fria River Bridge Project.
Please drive slowly and safely through the work zone.
PROJECT SAFETY RESTRICTIONS
As work progresses on the north side of SR 169 to complete the new bridge structure, safety restrictions across the bridge will remain in effect. Please be aware of the following:
- Due to safety concerns, the no pedestrian access policy along SR 169 through the work zone will remain in effect. Pedestrians are encouraged to find alternate routes or alternate methods of getting through the work zone.
- Lanes across the Agua Fria River Bridge remain narrowed to 10.5 feet, with a 1 foot shoulder. This traffic control configuration restricts load widths to 10 feet.
Please drive slowly and safely through the work zone.
Weekly construction eUpdates are available.
The Arizona Department of Transportation will remove
the existing bridge over the Agua Fria River on State
Route 169 and replace it with a new bridge. Work will
begin in summer 2008 on the $4.2 million project,
which is scheduled for completion in fall 2009.
Half of
the new bridge will be built first and traffic will be
transferred to the new bridge. Then the old bridge will
be demolished and the other half of the new bridge will
be constructed.
