Completed Projects
| Interstate 17 Black Canyon Hill ~ December 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began a project in May 2009 to resurface
southbound I-17 between Sunset Point Rest Area to Black Canyon City, as well as other roadway improvements. The project was completed in December 2009. Project improvements included resurfacing the roadway with rubberized asphalt; upgrading existing drainage; and replacing guardrails, signage, and pavement markers.
| State Route 89 Hell Canyon Bridge ~ November 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began a project in September 2009 to resurface
the Hell Canyon Bridge deck located on SR 69 between Chino Valley and Ash fork. The project was completed in November 2009.
| SR 69 Widening in Prescott Valley ~ October 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began a project in September 2009 to increase the capacity of State Route 69 in Prescott Valley between Glassford Hill Road and East Prescott Highway. The project was completed in October 2009.
| SR 89 Widening in Chino Valley ~ September 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began a project to increase the capacity of State Route 89 in Chino Valley in August 2008 between just south of Center Street and Road 4 South/Outer Loop Road. The project included widening the roadway to four lanes, installing a traffic signal at Road 2 South, constructing a roundabout at Road 4 South/Outer Loop Road, improving drainage, and installing a new water line. The project was completed in September 2009.
| SR 260 – Cherry Creek Safety Improvements |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began the SR 260 Cherry Creek Safety Improvements project in Mid March 2009. The project included the installation of a traffic signal at Cherry Road, improved the intersections of Horseshoe Bend and Old 279, widened highway shoulders at Park Verde, and the addition of passing lanes and a left turn lane at Dickison Circle. The project was completed in the summer of 2009.
| SR 69 Pavement Preservation Project ~ July 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation completed its first project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in July 2009. The project involved repaving State Route 69 between Cordes Junction and Mayer.
| SR 260 Pavement Preservation Project ~ May 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began a project to repave the existing State Route 260 between Western Drive and Cottonwood in April 2009. The pavement preservation project was completed in May 2009 to prolong the life of the roadway.
| SR 89 Clarkdale to Cottonwood Project ~ Spring 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation began construction in February 2008 to improve SR 89A between Clarkdale and Cottonwood. The project was completed in spring of 2009.
| Sunset Point Rest Area Renovation ~ April 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation closed Sunset Point Rest Area in November 2007 for a major renovation and remodeling project that was completed in April 2009.
Improvements at the rest area included the construction of a new restroom building and new scenic overlook area.
| SR 260 Western Drive to Thousand Trails ~ March 2009 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) began construction in early February 2008 on State Route (SR) 260 from Thousand Trails to Western Drive in Cottonwood and completed the project in March 2009. A final coat of asphalt is planned for May 2009.
| SR89/SR89A Traffic Interchange ~ April 2008 |
The new traffic interchange where State Route 89 meets 89A was completed April 2008. The interchange was built in twelve months at a cost of approximately $5.6 million dollars and is part of ADOT’s State Route 89 corridor improvements.
| SR 69 Repaving ~ November 2008 |
The Arizona Department of Transportation completed repaving a
4.5-mile segment of State Route 69 beginning four miles
northwest of Cordes Junction in November 2008. Work began in summer
of 2008 on the $3.1 million project, and was completed on time.
The project was located between MP 267.35 and 271.90 and consisted of removing a layer of the existing
pavement and applying new pavement. ADOT crews also build a
new right turn lane at the Main Street entrance to Mayer,
Arizona. Most of the work was done at night.
