Construction Underway
ADOT began construction of the SR 260 Cherry Creek Safety Improvements project in mid March 2009. Construction is anticipated to last through Spring 2010. Traffic restrictions are expected throughout construction.

At this time speed limits have been lowered through the construction zone for the safety of motorists and crews.

Planned Improvements

• A signalized intersection will be installed at Cherry Road.
• The intersections of Horseshoe Bend and Old 279 with SR 260 will be improved.
• Highway shoulders will be widened at Park Verde.
• A left-turn lane will be added at Dickison Circle.
• Motorist sight lines will be improved by a reduction of the highway grade.
• Passing lanes will be added between Cherry Road and Coury Drive in both directions

Several areas were identified where safety improvements should be made.

• Intersection improvements at Cherry Rd, Old 279 and the County Complex ~ tentative plan is to add traffic signal at a relocated Cherry Rd but design is still underway . 
• Consolidate intersections at Cherry Rd, old 279 and the County Complex.
• Intersection improvements at Horseshoe Bend
• Slope improvements, to improve sight distance
• Widen shoulders at Park Verde
• Add left turn lane at Dickison Circle

• Passing lanes between Cherry Road to Coury Drive

Many of these projects are:

• Currently in final design
• Design to be complete by May 2008
• Programmed for construction in FY 2009
